OUT OF MANY, ONE-Empowering Immigrant Families

About OM1 Foundation

OM1 Foundation (Out of Many, One) is a community-driven organization dedicated to empowering immigrant and underserved communities through education, legal navigation, workforce opportunity, and innovative programming.

Founded by Dilsia Victoria Mejia, OM1 Foundation was created to address the real challenges many families face when navigating complex systems such as immigration, employment, and access to educational resources. Our work focuses on helping individuals and families build long-term stability while contributing to stronger, more inclusive communities.

Through our initiatives, OM1 Foundation works to expand access to reliable information, workforce support, and educational opportunities that allow individuals to grow, succeed, and fully participate in the economic and social fabric of our communities.

A key part of our vision includes expanding opportunities in creative and technological education. Through our partnership with Music Promise, OM1 Foundation is developing programs that introduce youth and underserved communities to music education, creative production, and emerging technologies, including digital media and AI-driven creative tools. These programs aim to unlock new career pathways while encouraging creativity, cultural expression, and innovation.

At its core, OM1 Foundation believes that strong communities are built through opportunity, collaboration, and empowerment. By connecting families with resources, education, and supportive networks, we work to create pathways toward stability, economic mobility, and a more inclusive future for all.

Out of Many, One (OM1) Foundation was created to stand in the gap for families facing legal, economic, and humanitarian crises — especially immigrant and low-income communities who often struggle to access trustworthy support and resources.

Founded by community advocate and paralegal Dilsia V. Mejía, OM1 is built on the belief that true support goes beyond paperwork. Families need guidance, education, emotional support, and someone who will walk with them through moments of fear, uncertainty, and transition. OM1 exists to be that support system.

Our mission is to empower families by providing legal navigation, community resources, advocacy, and humanitarian assistance, helping them move from crisis to stability and from survival to opportunity. Through partnerships with legal professionals, community organizations, and local leaders, OM1 connects families to critical services while ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect every step of the way.

OM1 serves families across Kenner, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, LaPlace, and surrounding parishes, responding to urgent needs such as immigration-related emergencies, family separations, housing instability, lack of transportation, and access to reliable information. Whether it is helping a parent understand their legal options, supporting children affected by detention, or guiding families toward long-term solutions, OM1 is committed to showing up when it matters most.

Our name, Out of Many, One, reflects the strength found in unity. We believe that when communities come together — across cultures, backgrounds, and circumstances — real change becomes possible. OM1 is not just a nonprofit; it is a movement rooted in compassion, justice, and collective responsibility.

Together, we work to ensure that no family has to face hardship alone.
